A few steps on how we grow the illustrious datil peppers here in St. Augustine, Florida.
Growing the illustrious Datil Pepper is a lot like any other plant you may want to grow.  All you have to do is talk to them and
show them some TLC.  Okay...you don't really need to talk to them but the TLC is important.  We start growing ours from
seeds that we keep from the peppers we used in our sauces.
After the sowing process is complete we will transfer the small plants from our seed starting area to 4 inch plastic pots.  In
doing so we try to make sure that the soil temperature is as close to 70 degrees as possible.  The climate in St. Augustine,
Florida is so mild most of the year, it makes growing the datil pepper plants much easier.  As the plants grow up to around 6
inches tall we transfer them to larger pots.  Typically we use compost mixed with Miracle Grow potting mix.
